Trains

There are three train lines in Ghana: Accra to Kumasi and Accra to Takoradi; both running a morning and night train. Kumasi to Takoradi has three departures daily, including an overnight schedule with bar and restaurant service. The train station in Accra is situated on the corner of Nkrumah Avenue and Kinbu Road.

Ghana Railways are generally underfunded and slow.

The eastern line, Accra-Kumasi passes through the Kwahu and Akim highlands. The Accra-Takoradi line drives through forested areas on the way to Huni Valley. First class tickets are limited to seats available on the train. A sleeper will add circa 50% of your ticket cost.
