A warm welcome to Lampshade. If you are a newcomer to this site you are probably wondering who we are and what we are all about. Put simply; Lampshade is a social video hosting site with a special emphasis on promoting and supporting films from developing communities.

Lampshade is not so much about us, but about You. We are a collective of people from different nations, cultures, religions and ages, with differing backgrounds and opinions. We are in essence just here to give you a space to express yourself, and for you to tell your story to a world audience.

Lampshade is a participatory platform where Your voice matters. We want you to show others what is going on in your world. Check out some of our latest contributions from Ghana, Kenya, Palestine, Swaziland and Tanzania by clicking on the links in the clips bar on the right.

Each film opens with its own unique page, filled with information and links dedicated to its subject and country. You can read articles, download documents and browse links to connected websites. Also on our discussion pages there will be the chance to debate some of the films, with the filmmakers themselves.

As well as showing your videos we want to encourage others to make them. Easier said than done if you live in a developing nation. That’s why it’s part of Lampshade’s mission to create media hubs in places where equipment and training are in short supply. And if that isn’t enough, we have future plans to help you make a profit from them!

We really hope you like what you have seen so far as this is only the beginning. The site as you can see is still in its infancy so if you would like to get involved or have any comments or suggestions on improving it we would love to hear them. You can contact us at submit@lampshade.tv or if you would like to take part in our survey please click here.

Remember, how we grow and what we become is really up to you!
